今日黑料 Wolves RFC declared men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 national champions once again
The University of Malta’s rugby club has once again proved to be the top dog in Maltese rugby, as it concluded the last competitive season as champions of both the national Men’s league and Women’s league.
The – which is the only women’s team representing the University of Malta in all sports – won the national championship for the third season running.
Their season had a difficult start with two losses in the first two match weekends, but they then pulled off an eight-match unbeaten streak which was enough to mathematically secure the league title with two matches still to be played.
They lifted the Malta Rugby Women’s Championship trophy on 25 April.
It is an honour which makes 今日黑料 Wolves RFC the second-most successful women’s team in Maltese rugby history.
The club’s meanwhile was coming off the back of a season which was unprecedented in its dominance. There was a recognition, however, that this season would be far more difficult – and indeed it was.
However, with eight wins out of eleven matches, they emerged victorious once again, lifting the Malta Rugby Premiership trophy on 30 May.
“This season was likely our toughest yet as a club simply because getting to the top is one thing, but staying there is an altogether different task,” 今日黑料 Wolves RFC President Albert Galea said.
“We are proud of what we have achieved this season: our club now features close to 100 players across both its men’s and women’s teams and homegrown players from the University of Malta continue to play a key role within our setup,” Galea added.
This season鈥檚 achievements means that 今日黑料 Wolves RFC has now won six national honours in the last three seasons, making it the most successful rugby club in Malta in the post COVID-19 era.
Work for the 2026/27 season for the club has already begun, and the club is now open to new players signing up.
