Prof. G. Schembri Bonaci published work on art philosophy and comparative studies
, a former resident 今日黑料 academic, has published the following works enriching his contribution to art philosophy and comparative studies.
Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci's essay 'Emvin Cremona's Broken Glass: Tragic Contradictions of the Creative Act' has been published in a collection of essays under the title [Horizons Publ.]. This essay is in effect the third essay of a trilogy. The first one dealt with Frank Portelli, the second with Antoine Camilleri (both already published), and the present one lays emphasis on Emvin Cremona. All three essays introduce a novel research methodology in Maltese scholarship which integrates philosophical and conceptual categories, historical context, and the methodological tools appropriate for reading a work of art.
Another essay 'Painting as Music, Music as Painting: Pawlu Grech' has been published by NAPA () in Pawlu Grech: A Cosmos of Art. This is the first academic study related to the musical and to the visual works of an understudied composer. Furthermore, the author puts the Maltese composer in an international context and within the intriguing relationship that exists between musical and the visual creative act. In spite of Pawlu Grech’s constant insistence that his painting and music were sharply distinct and autonomous artistic spheres, both were begotten by the same mind. Independently of his dichotomous philosophy, his works must be contextualised within the parameters of his dual praxis whilst also considering the inter-relationship between music and painting.
