Presentation of Research Report to the President of Malta

Prof. Carmel Cefai, Director of the Centre for Resilience and Socio-Emotional Health, together with Dr Anthony Sammut and Ms Joyce Grech from the Education Directorates, recently presented a copy of their research report 'A National Study on the Social and Emotional Wellbeing and Academic Learning Competences of School Students in Malta' to Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, the President of Malta.

The report, published in March 2026, includes the findings and recommendations from a national study on the social and emotional well-being and the academic competences of school children in Malta.  The study was a collaborative initiative between the University of Malta, the Ministry of Education, the and Arizona State University.

The President underlined the importance of such studies, which offer a solid basis for the design of policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening both the well-being and the educational experience of children and young people in Malta.
