Dr Panagiotis Alexiou

Dr Panagiotis Alexiou is the ERA Chair of the BioGeMT project at the University of Malta. His research focuses on modelling post-transcriptional regulation and developing innovative machine learning methods for biomedical applications, with a particular interest in applying computational approaches to complex biological problems.

Prof. Jean-Paul Ebejer

Prof. Jean-Paul Ebejer is Chair for Bioinformatics at the University of Malta, where he is based at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Biobanking. His research focuses on the development and application of bioinformatics, machine learning and data science methods to problems in molecular biology, with particular interests in structural bioinformatics and computer-aided drug discovery. He holds an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics and Theoretical Systems Biology from Imperial College London and a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford, where he worked on structural bioinformatics and computational drug discovery.

His interests centre on applying quantitative and machine learning methods to problems across various scientific fields.

Dimosthenis is a research scientist and PhD candidate in Bioinformatics focusing on evolutionary biology. He develops small RNA deep learning models and genomic sequence mapping algorithms.
