Event: Visual Illusions: Using visual illusions to explore the human brain
Date: Tuesday 4 March 2025
Time: 19:00 - 20:30
Venue: Spazju Kreattiv, Studio B
What if seeing isn’t always believing?
Join us for a mind-bending journey into the world of visual illusions, where perception meets deception! Prof. Ian M. Thornton from the Department of Cognitive Science will take us beyond the surface of what we see, revealing how illusions expose the brain’s hidden processes.
Visual illusions do more than just entertain—they offer a unique window into the mechanics of the way we see. In this fascinating presentation, you’ll witness a series of classic illusions that trick the eye and challenge our understanding of reality. Through these optical puzzles, we’ll uncover the compelling evidence that our brains don’t just receive images of the world; they actively construct them.
But that’s not all! Prepare to be amazed by newly discovered illusions developed at the Department of Cognitive Science. These fresh optical marvels provide even deeper insight into optical cognition. And the best part? You’ll get access to exclusive online demos, allowing you to experience the magic of these illusions first-hand.
Join us on 4 March 2025, at 19:00 at Studio B, Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta, for a fascinating talk by Prof. Ian M. Thornton.
Prepare to question everything you see … reality is only an illusion!
Don’t miss this eye-opening exploration of perception, illusion, and the power of the human mind!
