Department of Social Policy and Social Work Contributes to MASW Conference and Fair

Members of the Department of Social Policy and Social Work actively represented the University at the annual Maltese Association of Social Workers (MASW) Conference and Social Work Fair, showcasing research, academic leadership, and community outreach.

Held on 21 October, the MASW Conference, titled United in Purpose: Shaping the Identity of Social Work, featured several prominent contributions from department academics.

Dr Natalie Kenely delivered the keynote address, titled "Becoming Social Workers: Reflective Practice and Identity Formation during Placement Learning.

Dr Daniella Zerafa served as a panellist on Panel 1: Social Work in Malta – From Education to Employment, exploring the transition from academic preparation to professional practice, as well as the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of the field.

Dr Maria Mangion and Prof. Maureen Cole presented their research titled "The Untold Story Behind Malta's Social Work Code of Ethics."

Following the conference, department staff and students participated in the MASW Social Work Fair on 22 and 23 October. The two-day event brought together 28 participating organisations and welcomed hundreds of secondary school students to explore careers and educational pathways in social work.
