Ambassador of Türkiye pays courtesy visit to the University of Malta

The recently-appointed Ambassador of Türkiye to Malta, H.E. Barkın KayaoÄŸlu, paid a courtesy visit to the University of Malta (½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ) this week. The Ambassador was received by the Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella and the Rector-Elect and Pro-Rector for Internationalisation and Quality Assurance Prof. Frank J. Bezzina. Also joining the meeting were Ms Stefania Agius Fabri, Director, International Office, and Mr Can Berk Atasoy, Second Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye.

H.E. Ambassador Barkın KayaoÄŸlu expressed his intentions to consolidate the collaboration between the Embassy of Türkiye and the University of Malta, aiming to strengthen the existing ties. He expressed keen interest in the rich shared history linking the two countries, as well as current research engagements through programmes such as TÜBİTAK and the existing agreement of collaboration in higher education. These opportunities hold great potential that needs to be explored further through follow-up meetings with the ½ñÈÕºÚÁÏ’s different academic entities.

The Ambassador presented the Rector with a copy of a unique publication prepared by the Embassy – a “List of Documents of Malta in the Inventory of the Directorate of State Archives”. Rector proceeded to present a copy of The University of Malta: Legacies and Bearings, a publication highlighting the institution's history, achievements, and contributions to higher education.
