Safer communities : smarter policing - Malta Police Corporate Strategy 2025 - 2030

Abstract

This chapter outlines the Malta Police Corporate Strategy 2025–2030, titled Safer Communities, Smarter Policing, marking the organizational transition of the Malta Police Force from institutional transformation to sustainable excellence. Building upon the 2020–2025 Transformation Strategy, which achieved an 80% completion rate across 49 initiatives and contributed to record-low national crime rates and high public trust—this updated framework establishes 15 strategic priorities and 75 actionable commitments. The framework is structured around three core operational pillars: (1) Ensuring Public Safety and Security, (2) Strengthening Public Trust and Police Legitimacy, and (3) Delivering Smarter Policing. Key commitments include embedding evidence-based and data-driven policing, expanding nationwide community policing, improving operational response, leveraging artificial intelligence and digital tools, safeguarding vulnerable populations, enhancing internal transparency, and supporting officer well-being.
