The Malta Union Club : 150 years of unbroken history

Abstract

This sketch of the various aspects of the de颅velopment of the Malta Union Club was produced at the request of the Committee of Management in connection with the celebration of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Club. It must be frankly admitted that it would have been impossible to write it in the time available without the continuous assis颅tance of and reference to the absorbing pub颅lication 芦The Auberge de Provence and the Malta Union Club禄 written by Col. R.J.L. Wilkinson O.B.E. and published in Malta in 1948. Up to that date almost complete reliance has been placed on the text of this book, and if this has been stretched to the point of plagiarism due apology is hereby made. From 1948 onwards the original Minute Books have been the source together with a few personal recollections.
