| DESCRIPTION | Every candidate is expected to submit either a written research dissertation of 45,000–50,000 words, or a research presentation of artistic practice supported by a written dissertation of a maximum of 30,000 words, both options with a value of 80 ECTS credits, on a theme related to any aspect of Theatre Studies. The choice of topic needs the approval of the Board of Studies. Every candidate will be assigned a tutor to supervise the research and the writing of the dissertation. Intended Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the study-unit, candidates will have acquired an ability to: (a) demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the chosen subject and its relation to broader contexts in Theatre Studies; (b) develop their own research skills, with emphasis on (i) data collection and analysis, (ii) the analysis and/or application of theatre performance practices, (iii) refinement of a research topic and strategy; (c) communicate clearly orally or in performance and in writing research results; (d) demonstrate a practical understanding of how research techniques have been used to interpret the theme; (e) deal with complex issues systematically and creatively; and (f) undertake doctoral research, should they so wish. |
