DESCRIPTION This study-unit provides students with essential computing skills required to navigate a technical workplace, through specific focus on practical application. The course introduces the student to software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (or equivalent tools) to document, manage, and present technical information in a neat, universally understandable, and technical manner. Through hands-on tasks and technical-specific examples, students will develop the digital competencies needed for reporting, efficient data handling, and professional communication.

Study-Unit Aims:

- Equip the students with essential computer skills required to navigate a technical workplace.
- Develop students' proficiency in using word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
- Amalgamate theory of data analysis, report writing and presentation skills with the use of software mentioned above.
- Foster within the student the ability to communicate technical content through digital means.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

Use simple computation functions in a spreadsheet software.
- Compile tables of data in a presentable manner.
- Plot graphs using a spreadsheet software.
- Use conditional formatting
- Export contents from a spreadsheet software into a word processing software to amalgamate data presentation and report writing.
- Format documents in a word processing software.
- Prepare presentable visual content for use in presentations.
- Demonstrate good presentation skills through the use of multimedia.
- Show an active link between verbal and pictorial presentation.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Use spreadsheet processing software to help analyse and interpret data.
- Synthesise information by integrating data into reports and presentation.
- Display written communication through creation of clear, formatted reports.
- Provide concise but clear messages through multimedia aids embedded in presentations.
