| DESCRIPTION | This study unit introduces the subject of human factors within the context of aircraft maintenance. It covers all of the topics in the syllabus of EASA Part 66 Module 9A (Human Factors) at the level of Category A1, including: the need to consider human factors; human performance and limitations; social psychology; factors affecting performance; physical environment; tasks; communication; human error; and hazards in the workplace. Study-Unit Aims: - To highlight the importance of human factors in aviation maintenance - To explain key physical and psychological aspects of humans - To show that humans are fallible and explain the causes and effects of human error - To highlight the importance of non-technical skills in aviation maintenance - To explain how human performance is affected by different factors, including the physical work environment Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Explain how humans sense their environment and process information - Describe aspects of social psychology in the context of aviation maintenance - Identify factors that influence human performance - Explain the different types of human error and how they can be mitigated - Discuss the importance of communication and other soft skills in the workplace 2.
