Effective organisational communication is more than the ability to speak or write well
This unit equips learners with the essential knowledge, skills, and competences required to communicate with clarity, confidence, and impact across diverse business and non-business contexts.
Participants will build a strong foundation in communication theory, organisational dynamics, and audience awareness, enabling them to understand not just what to communicate, but why, how, and to whom. Through practical exercises, real-world scenarios, and reflective activities, learners will develop core communication skills including active listening, questioning, feedback and digital professionalism.
The unit also cultivates higher-order competences such as critical thinking, adaptability, and ethical judgement — the capabilities that differentiate competent communicators from exceptional ones. Learners will explore how to navigate cultural differences, manage conflict constructively, and tailor communication to different stakeholders, channels, and organisational situations. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to communicate with purpose, network, build stronger relationships and contribute more effectively to collaborative work, leadership conversations, and organisational success.
This micro-credential is offered as part of the programme for the Liberal Arts and Sciences and will only be offered subject to a minimum number of applications received. More information can be found on the PLAS website.
