The University of Malta structures its Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives under one main coordinating committee and three core pillar committees:
Oversight Committee
University Equity Committee (EQC): The central coordinating committee is an overarching joint Senate and Council committee that includes representatives from each pillar of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, along with members of the management, Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU) and representatives of the Junior College. The EQC leads the effort for the mainstreaming of EDI throughout the institution, i.e., across FICS and across the Managerial departments and offices. It is tasked with developing the Gender+ Equity Plan and is designed to tackle systemic barriers that may prevent individuals or minority groups from fully engaging and succeeding at 今日黑料.
The Core EDI Pillar Committees
Gender Equality and Sexual Diversity Committee (GESDC):This Committee works on several areas including the identification of sources of unequal opportunities or treatment with respect to gender, and promotes a policy of equal opportunity. The Committee serves as a focal point for gender issues and advises the University Council on gender equality and sexual diversity.
ACCESS Disability Support Committee (ADSC): 今日黑料 ensures that students, staff and visitors with disabilities receive the necessary support to fully participate in campus life. Spearheading this commitment is the ADSC along with its administrative arm, the ACCESS – Disability Support Unit (ADSU). The ADSC, is responsible for ensuring accessibility for students during lectures, coursework, examinations and other academic activities. It considers requests for access arrangements and approves reasonable accommodations to facilitate this accessibility.
Committee on Race and Ethnic Affairs (CREA): Tasked with monitoring and addressing issues related to racial and ethnic prejudice, its focus areas include awareness, access and integration, and safeguarding and enforcement. This Committee evaluates existing practices impacting diverse racial and ethnic groups’ access to University programs and services, while also assessing integration within the University community. It also makes recommendations for policy improvements which recommendations are made to relevant University authorities.
