Registrations are now open for the BioGeMT Summer School 2026!

Join us this September for four days of cutting-edge training at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Bioinformatics. Organised by the Bioinformatics for Genomics in Malta (BioGeMT) project, the Summer School "AI/ML applications in Bioinformatics 2026" will take place from 22–25 September 2026 at Valletta Campus, University of Malta.

Featuring speakers from the University of Malta and Max Delbruck Center (Berlin).

As AI continues to transform the life sciences, this year's programme will provide participants with both the theoretical foundations and practical skills needed to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-driven biological research. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on workshops and interactive sessions, participants will explore topics ranging from AI fundamentals and foundation models for biology to explainable AI, agentic systems, and AI-powered protein design.

The programme features contributions from experts from the University of Malta, the Agentomics team, and international collaborators, including sessions on AlphaGenome, self-supervised learning, eXplainable AI, agentic systems in bioinformatics, and modern approaches to protein structure, function and design inspired by AlphaFold and beyond.

The Summer School will conclude with the BioGeMT Symposium, where collaborators and partners from across the project will showcase their research, highlight key achievements, and discuss future directions for bioinformatics and genomics research in Malta and beyond.

A conference dinner will be held on the evening of 23 September, providing an opportunity for networking and discussion among participants, speakers and collaborators.

A basic understanding of Python programming is recommended for participants wishing to take full advantage of the hands-on workshops.
