Fine Arts Year 3 Honours Exhibition

Event: Fine Arts Year 3 Honours Exhibition

Date: Friday 3 July 2026

Time: 19:00-22:00

Venue: Ta' Qali Art Space

In an era defined by hyper-visibility, rapid digital circulation, and ambient surveillance, how we navigate the world is fundamentally shaped by a dual mechanism: the way we look out at our environment, and the way the structures around us look back.

"see/seen", marks the culmination of three years of artistic research, experimentation, and critical inquiry by the final-year students within the Fine Arts Honours programme at the University of Malta for the BA Dissertation.

The title functions as a conceptual axis. On one side, “see” interrogates our active agency, how we observe, decode, and make sense of today’s complex socio-political, digital, and domestic landscapes.

On the other hand, “seen” examines the passive or enforced states of visibility, how data systems, art historical canons, and societal structures monitor, classify, and objectify the individual.

The works presented in this exhibition collapse the distance between the public and the private, the digital and the material, the hyper-fast and the meticulously slow.

Through diverse practices spanning multimedia installation, painting, domestic craft, and collage, the artists in this exhibition challenge viewers to contemplate contemporary ways of looking.
