From 14 to 16 September 2026, the Department of Moral Theology within the University of Malta will host 'Embodied Lives: Interdisciplinary Dialogues on the Body', a three-day international colloquium bringing together scholars, practitioners and students from Malta and abroad.
The colloquium will explore the body as lived experience and its intersections with society, culture, health, spirituality and meaning, drawing together perspectives from sociology, anthropology, philosophy, theology, medicine, medical humanities, disability studies and related fields.
Keynote speakers include David Le Breton from the University of Strasbourg, Antonio Staglianò from the Pontifical Academy of Theology, Philippe Cornet from Sorbonne University, and Frédéric Vandenberghe from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
The programme addresses themes including illness and vulnerability, identity, disability, movement, faith, embodiment and social experience.
The colloquium will take place at the ICT Auditorium, University of Malta (Msida Campus), with selected sessions also available online.
Academics, students, practitioners and members of the public are welcome.
