Developing future-oriented strategies and innovative solutions to address the challenges of sustainable development: Dr Lisa Pace

Dr Lisa Pace, Chair of the Outreach Sub-Group of the University Maritime Platform, is based at The Edward de Bono Institute for Creative Thinking and Innovation, and her background is in innovation management and foresight, with a particular interest in participatory approaches to advancing a sustainable blue economy.

The multiple uses of coastal and marine environments call for forward-looking management approaches that are resilient to future uncertainties and balance environmental, economic, and societal priorities. Foresight supports policy and management by engaging stakeholders in exploring alternative futures and shaping technological and social innovations that contribute to the sustainable development of marine and maritime sectors.

Bringing these future-oriented and participatory approaches to marine and maritime challenges is an important step towards more inclusive and resilient policy and decision-making.
