Title: Grand Master Perellos : rheumatic fever and syphilis Authors: Bonello, Giovanni Abstract: It is not given to everyone to have his maladies made the subject-matter of a published book. Not so Grand Master Perellos (1697 ­ 1720) who lived to see a 104-page volume about his recalcitrant fevers printed in his lifetime.1 It all started with a letter written on February 15, 1708, by Malta's protomedico (Chief Government Medical Officer) Dr Arcangelo Grech2 at the instance of the Grand Master, addressed to the most eminent physician in Sicily, indirectly asking for guidance about the defiant fevers the Grand Master had fallen victim to. The letter, I believe, bears translation and reproduction.

Title: Primary fallopian tube carcinoma presenting with a solitary metastasis in a Spigelian hernia Authors: Sultana, Angela; Schembri, Mark; Scerri, Albert P.; Schembri Wismayer, David Abstract: Primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC) is a rare gynaecological tumour. Histologically, this type of tumour resembles other tumours of the female reproductive tract, predominantly serous tumours. These cancers are often difficult to distinguish from ovarian cancers and are generally treated with the same standards of surgery and chemotherapy. Diagnosis of PFTC is rarely made preoperatively. Very often, the diagnosis is made either at the operating table or by the pathologist. In this report we present a rare case of PFTC with a solitary metastatic deposit in a right Spigelian hernia, the latter being the initial presenting complaint.
